Outreach
Alameda, June 2025
PMSNC held its annual community outreach in Alameda at St. Albert the Great Church on June 28, 2025 where health screenings and education were conducted. Screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure, Hemoglobin A1C, BMI, spine health and eye health, including detection of macular degeneration, were performed. Education on importance of immunizations, healthy food choices, mental health, stop the bleeding, basic life support and use of automated external defibrillator (AED) were done. The participants engaged themselves with understanding of each health screening and education that was offered.
Important findings were noted including 2 participants with abnormal lipid, 2 with AMD (acute macular degeneration), 3 had myopia and 2 with hypertensive eye findings. There were 3 who learned how to operate an AED (automated external defibrillator).
Many expressed their appreciation of what they learned from this health event.
It was an enjoyable day of helping our kababayans, neighbors and friends in promoting wellness and giving back to our community!
San Jose, October 2024
We held our outreach on October 26, 2024 in San Jose. The event was titled "Ang Kalusugan ay Kasiyahan" (Health is Happiness.) Thank you to those who volunteered.
We would like to acknowledge our collaborators and donors from Healthier Kids Foundation, Hep B Free San Francisco Bay Area, Optum, Santa Clara Family Health Plan, Shield Health Care, and Washington Hospital Healthcare System.
East Palo Alto, October 2023
PMSNC collaborated with the Bay Area Global Outreach Lions Club and held a health fair entitled "Fall Into Wellness, Be Your Own Health Superhero". The team focused on diabetes awareness and nutrition education with participation of a dietitian and an endocrinologist. It was a day of both education and fun.
Volunteers provided free blood cholesterol and glucose screening, blood pressure screening and weight and BMI screening.
Flu vaccines were provided by San Mateo County and administered by the SF Host Lions.
San Jose, October 2022
PMSNC Kababayan Health Day was held in San Jose on October 29, 2022 in partnership with The FilCom of Santa Clara County and Santa Clara Family Health Plan. Deputy Consul General Raquel Solano and Vice Consul Adrian Baccay were in attendance.
San Francisco, October 2021
Health Day sa Konsulado was held last October 2021. We provided health education on Covid-19, healthy nutrition, Hepatis B, and healthy lungs. We also conducted health screenings for blood pressure, weight, hepatitis B, cholesterol, glucose, and mental health as well as provided flu vaccines. Close to 100 visitors received our health education and health screenings.
Union City, October 2019
Filipino Community Outreach at the FAJ (Filipino Advocates for Jutice) Center. Education on Diabetes including teaching and cooking demonstrations sponsored by the Kaiser Greater Southern Alameda FACE (Filipino American Care Experience) program. The event was supported and attended by PMSNC members.
UC Berkeley, Fall 2019
Students learned the basics of surgical suturing, gowning up, sterile techniques, how to start IVs, take blood pressure, etc. It was an enriching experience for our future medical professionals!
San Jose, 2017
234 visitors attended a health fair at Our Lady of Refuge Church in San Jose. Sponsored by Santa Clara Family Health Plan, Physicians Medical Group of San Jose, O'Connor Hospital Foundation, Peninsula Pharmacy Association and Safeway.
